ADHD Jersey is proud to share that Rachel Boss Founder and Charlie Herd, Trainee educator and volunteer with ADHD Jersey, were invited to the Palace of Westminster as part of Takeda’s national campaign, A Personal Sentence, delivered in partnership with Tessa Munt. The campaign highlights the lived experiences of women with ADHD and the disproportionate challenges they face within the criminal justice system.

The session brought together policymakers, advocates, and lived‑experience speakers to explore how women with ADHD are frequently misdiagnosed, misunderstood, or unsupported, and how these gaps can heighten their vulnerability within legal and custodial settings.

As part of the campaign’s lived‑experience testimony, Charlie Herd delivered a powerful and heartfelt address

. Drawing on both personal experience and her training as an educator, she spoke about:

  • The unique and often masked presentation of ADHD in women

  • The long-term impact of missed or late diagnosis

  • Why women with ADHD are disproportionately represented in justice pathways

  • The need for trauma‑informed, neurodiversity‑aware systems

  • The role of compassionate, community support in changing outcomes

Her speech resonated strongly, inspiring thoughtful discussion and questions from States Members around early intervention, safeguarding, and improving service pathways for neurodivergent women in Jersey.

Founder Rachel Boss shared:

“Being in Parliament as part of Takeda’s A Personal Sentence campaign, and watching our Charlie herd speak with such courage, clarity, and heart, was incredibly moving. Her voice represents so many women whose experiences have been overlooked for too long. We are incredibly proud of her”

Takeda’s A Personal Sentence campaign aims to ensure lived experience directly informs policy decisions, shaping more compassionate, effective approaches across the UK and Crown Dependencies.

ADHD Jersey remains committed to raising awareness, amplifying lived‑experience voices, and advocating for better understanding and support for women with ADHD across the island.
