Our fishing programme (due summer 2026)

The ADHD Jersey Fishing Programme offers a calm, outdoor space where young people and adults can build confidence, focus and wellbeing away from everyday pressures. Fishing helps develop patience, problem-solving and emotional regulation in a natural and stress-free environment.

Led by supportive mentors, the sessions encourage social connection, teamwork and personal growth while giving participants the chance to experience success at their own pace.

How does it work?

The fishing sessions take place in small groups at local outdoor fishing spots around Jersey, creating a calm and supportive environment. Each session is led by experienced volunteers who provide guidance, teach skills and help build confidence step by step. All equipment is provided, and activities are adapted to suit different abilities and experience levels. The focus is on enjoyment and personal progress, not competition, making it a relaxed and positive space for everyone involved.

How does it help?

Fishing offers a unique balance of focus, patience and calm, making it especially beneficial for people with ADHD. The programme helps improve concentration, emotional control and problem-solving in a natural, pressure-free way. Being outdoors also supports mental wellbeing and reduces stress, while the group setting encourages social connection and confidence. Each session gives participants a sense of achievement and progress both on and off the water.
